Visible to: public

Time zone: Melbourne
Reminder: None
Ends: 12:00am (duration is about 5 hours)

This function will double as a players auction and sponsors function. Entry to the night will be $10. This will get you food and a ticket into the door prize.

Neat casual dress.

That might be all the information some need.

Most will have seen these done before, some will have no idea how they work, but nobody will have any idea why it’s called a Calcutta.

HOW WILL THE CALCUTTA AUCTION WORK?
Every registered football and netball player across all grades will be placed in a group of three or four. These groups will be posted shortly.

On the night, all groups will be auctioned off. In order to speed up the process so we can get stuck into the rest of the night πŸŽ‰πŸ”ŠπŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ•ΊπŸ»πŸ», the top 20 β€˜marquee’ groups will go under the hammer under the guidance of our resident auctioneer. The rest of us lesser likes (Fisher, Peters, Power and co.) will be sold under silent auction conditions around the room.

WHY SHOULD I BID FOR A GROUP?
If your group wins for the round, you will collect $200. This will be awarded for each round of the year.

HOW IS THE WINNER FOR EACH ROUND DECIDED?
This will test some, but it’s actually quite straightforward. In each of the eight grades, a 3, 2 and 1 will be decided for best on ground/court. This will be decided by an independent spectator.

If player β€˜x’ in your group is best on court (3 points), player β€˜y’ in your group is third best on ground (1 point) and player β€˜z’ has a stinker (0 points) your group finishes the round on 4 points. As long as no other groups score more than 4 points, the $200 is yours.

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
- The bloke who scraped together a best on ground in the Club 18’s with a 8 disposals at an efficiency of 27% earns the same points as the best on ground in the Seniors.
- We will be backdating the awards from the start of the year. This means that we need to give away $800 for the first four rounds. 3, 2 and 1’s have already been decided for those games. If your group is one of these winners, you will be paid the $200. It may be worth doing your homework to see who was decent in the few four games for each grade. Please note, these do not necessarily correspond with the coaches best.
- Syndicates could be a good idea.

Payments are encouraged on the night and Eftpos will be available.
